Firstly as owner of this site I am bound to be a bit biased but I think the record needs to be set straight with regards to fruit fly cultures. We do not produce these ourselves but buy them in from a very large wholesale producer and they are the very best we have found. When you recieve a culture it may be quite new and therefore not have many flies but it should have plently of maggots and eggs which will turn into flies. This is quite normal but if you have not previously used fruit fly cultures and are expecting a pot full of flies then you would obviously be quite disapointed.

Good value for money. The container does make it a little difficult to get flies out without escapees but the quality of the live food is good. Recommended *****

These are excellent, you get loads of fruit flys, and they just keep on coming. there is info that you can use at the top bar were it says 'live food care' and remember it is a good idea to feed the bugs that your going to use because there is no point in feeding a starving bug to your pet!

the order was well-posted and taken care of during delivery, just popped the culture on a heat mat overnight and it\'s now teeming with larvae- no crickets or flying flies included as with other reviews. 5 stars, will be buying again

I am no scientist and had difficukty in obtaining the recommended culture feeding ingredients so I just used banana and yeast. Success!! Use small pickle jars covered with muslin plus rubber band and be patient. From an initial purchase of two cultures I know have seven on the go and my fire-belly toads have had two good feeds as well.
